It was the language of ancient Rome and was used throughout the Roman Empire for communication, administration, and literature.
During the Middle Ages, Latin served as the lingua franca of scholars and the Catholic Church. Its influence is profound, giving rise to the Romance languages (such as Spanish, French, and Italian) and contributing significantly to the vocabulary of many other languages, including English.
While no longer spoken as a native language, Latin remains important in various fields. It is studied in academia, and used in some religious contexts, and its terminology is prevalent in fields like medicine, law, and biology.
I had a fantastic opportunity and experience learning Latin from Judith Meyer, a German Polyglot. Her excellent knowledge of the language and teaching helped me excel progressively. I find the Latin language relatively easy to guess because I already know languages descended from it, such as Spanish, Portuguese, French, and Italian. However, remembering the declensions took me quite a long time.
