Valentine's Day With Portuguese Language

Valentine's Day has just passed, how did you celebrate with your lovely one? Did you say "Happy Valentine" in many languages? Well, as a multilingual, I think it would be pretty awesome.

February 14th a.k.a Valentine's Day marks my 1 month of learning Portuguese in Italki Challenge. Oh wait, it is not 1 month as in 30 days but actually, it is only 17 hours. That is because I take only about 4 classes in a week.

Dealing with the time difference is much more difficult than what I thought, although my timezone and my tutor's timezone differ only 8 hours. In the beginning, it was at 9 PM my timezone, GMT+8, then it was moved to 5.30 AM. There are only two available choices: early in the morning or after dinnertime.

Read, Read, Read

Although written language came few hundreds thousands years or even longer than that after spoken language, it doesn't mean that reading/ writing is less important than speaking/ listening.

Most of the time, I practice reading during the course in Italki Challenge. Apart from Wikipedia (I love this so much!), there are several portuguese language news portals that I used, such as HojeMacau from Macau, Exame from Brazil, Correio da Manhã from Portugal.

My tutor gave me writing assignment occasionally. I find that the easiest topic to write is always about my daily chores.  However, I also enjoy writing about language learning, which has been my biggest passion of all.

Conclusion

Judging from the corrections above, I certainly need more writing practice. It is true that speaking is somehow easier than writing because you can do gestures and it is understandable, however, keep in mind that some gestures might not be appropriate in some cultures.
