Level Up Or Learn A New Language?

So, you might be learning your ninth language and people keep on asking "When will you stop learning languages?" Instead of having an answer to that question, you came up with more questions, "Will you level up one language or learn a new language?"

Nauruan Language

The Taiwanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs held a two-day event promoting the Asia-Pacific culture in the capital city of Taiwan, Taipei City, on September 28-29th. The participants come from the Solomon Islands, the Philippines, the Marshall Islands, Vietnam, Tuvalu, Thailand, Singapore, South Korea, New Zealand, Palau, Nauru, Malaysia, Kiribati, Japan, Indonesia, India, Fiji, and Brunei. Apart from performing dances from each country, the participants also displayed a wide variety of handicrafts and artworks as well as authentic cuisine at each country's booth.

Indonesia is a vast country in Southeast Asia that anyone can recognize easily on the map because it borders the sea, thus its country border is also the sea border. Hundreds of ethnic groups and languages exist in Indonesia. Despite having numerous writing systems, the government recognizes the Latin alphabet as the official writing system, which was introduced during the colonization by the Europeans.

Before visiting Medan, Indonesia, like many non-Indonesians who have never visited Medan, I thought that the local Chinese were highly Indonesianized, just like other parts of Indonesia such as Jakarta, Surabaya and Bandung. Therefore, when I visited Medan for the first time in 2009, I was deeply surprised by the fact that most of the local Chinese, including children, speak fluent Hokkien, as Hokkien is also my father's native dialect.

Whichever country we are in this world, we cannot deny that food is part of our life. Especially when living in a foreign country, food can be an issue although I sometimes love food adventure. It is still fresh in my mind how I spent my first month in Taiwan eating food from convenience stores, such as 7-11 and Family Mart. Thank God they saved me :D The problem is, I was lack of Mandarin skill and we have a different food culture.

Marshallese Language

Aolepān Aorōkin M̧ajeļ The Marshall Islands (Marshallese: Aolepān Aorōkin M̧ajeļ ) is located in the northern Pacific Ocean. It is home to more than 68,000 Marshallese. The most populous atoll is Majuro, which is also the capital city. The Marshall Islands is one of several Pacific countries that use US Dollar . American, Japanese, German, Russian, and British had visited, settled, and even colonialized these Micronesian islands in the late 1700s. While the local population is mostly indigenous, there a numerous mixed of Japanese, American, and German Marshallese .

Medan Chinese: The most controversial community in Indonesia

The author was born in Binjai on August 22, 1959, but grew up in Medan. His youth was spent as a journalist at Analisa Daily for 11 years. During his career as a journalist, he won various writing competitions both at the North Sumatra and national levels. After from Analisa Daily , he worked as an entrepreneur and had time to lead the Medan Bisnis Daily and the Global Daily.

"Too many languages, too little time". That is the problem for all language enthusiasts like me. We are eager to learn as many languages as possible but the reality holds us back. We have our responsibility for our family, partners, social life, career, and anything else. There are many reasons for us to learn languages. We can learn many different languages for different purposes. With the limited time, we need to be creative in time management.
