Indonesian language gains more popularity in Taiwan
A nationwide Indonesian language proficiency test can be taken for the first time in Taiwan. More than 50 participants from various background and profession attended the test. The host for this test is the Language Center of National Taichung University of Science and Technology, cooperating with the International Language Center of the University of Indonesia.
The Indonesian language gains more popularity in Taiwan since the new Taiwanese government introduced the New Southbound Policy. This new policy comprises cooperation in the field of economy, skilled worker exchange, and natural resources with 18 countries from the ASEAN, South Asia, and Australia.
One of many important matters is that the Taiwanese government is putting an effort to attract Indonesian tourists to Taiwan either for vacation or medical purpose. Because of that, Taiwan needs professionals that can become tour guides and interpreters to serve this potential market. There are also many Taiwanese companies that invest in Indonesia, so there are opportunities for the Taiwanese to work in Indonesia.
